Auburn University is offering in summer 2010 an advanced Robotics & Game Development camp for middle school and high school students. This new program is developed and taught by the same CSSE team that offered since 2005 the very successful K12 Engineering Outreach Computer Literacy Academy and Robo Camp. Children with disabilities, girls, and children that were part of a Comp Camp or Robo Camp program are encouraged to enroll in this new and exciting program.

This new advanced program will introduce advanced concepts and hands-on applications of game design & development, and robotics. Students are assigned individual tasks and work together in teams to complete assignments. The following software and hardware will be used in class:

  • Carnegie Mellon University Alice Programming System, Microsoft Kodu and Xbox 360 will be used to teach game design and development
  • Lego Mindstorms RSX & Robotics Invention System, iRobot Create, Lego Mindstorms NXT & Microsoft Robotics will be used to teach robotics
  • C++ & Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express will be used to teach an introduction to programming

The 2010 Robotics & Game Development camp is held between June 3-22, on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Computer Science and Software Engineering Personal Computers Lab, Shelby Technology Center 2205 and Educational and Assistive Technologies Lab Shelby Technology Center 2214.
